The International Conference on Fire Safety and Resilience of the Built Environment – ICFIRE 2026 was successfully held on 22–23 July 2026 at BMICH, Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the theme “Advancing Fire-Resilient Materials and Systems for Future-Proofing Sustainable Built Environments.” The two-day conference brought together leading local and international experts, researchers, engineers, architects, fire-safety professionals, regulators and industry representatives to exchange knowledge and discuss emerging challenges and innovations in fire safety and resilient built environments.

The conference was inaugurated with the participation of Hon. Prof. Chrishantha Abeysena, Minister of Science & Technology of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, together with distinguished international and local professionals. Prof. Priyan Mendis of the University of Melbourne, Australia, delivered the keynote address on “Fire Engineering and Design: Emerging Trends in Performance Testing and Compliance,” setting the foundation for two days of insightful technical discussions. Followed by Dr. Ryan Hilditch, Principal, Halliwell Fire Science, Australia and New Zealand, and Eng. Vajira Attanayake, Group Director, Airow Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., Sri Lanka and Maldives, as Special Guests.
